COBOL Application Programming for z/OS and OS/390
 

This 5, 10 or 15 day course is designed to:

This course is designed to provide the student, based on class duration, the skill sets for writing programs in COBOL II.

Topics Covered:

Objectives:

This class is designed, based on the number of days that is selected, to provide the student with a working knowledge of COBOL Program writing.
An in-depth class of 15 days, 10 days or 5 days can be selected based on the students programming background.

Duration: 5, 10 or 15 days

Delivery:

Note that the 5-day curriculum is solely a lecture format; no programming machine exercises. 10 and 15 days are lecture and workshops.

Audience: 

Batch application programmers and technical support personnel that are in a service and support role. The 10-day curriculum class is only recommended for programmers wishing to learn COBOL as a second language and already have highly honed skills in ISPF, JCL and MVS utilities.

Prerequisites:

Students MUST be familiar with the following as they will not be taught in this curriculum:

  • TSO/ISPF
  • JCL with experience on JOB, EXEC and DD statement
  • MVS Utilities SORT and IEBGENER or ICEGENER.

Workshops:

:A z?OS or OS/390 platform will be used to run class problems coded by the students (10-day and 15-day curricula only).
