DB2 Version 8 announced March 26, 2004
The latest version of  IBM's DB2 UDB for z/OS, Version 8, was made public on March 26, 2004. This long awaited version has the most extensive changes in DB2 history.

Class Outlines:
DB2 UDB for z/OS Version 8 Transition

DB2 UDB for z/OS Version 8 SQL and Applications

Migration to version 8 will have to be carefully planned. This is a completely new DB2, and the planning will take time. Version 8 has many new features and customers will need to be sure they have all the information about this release before starting the process. There are a substantial number of changes that can require modification to applications and databases.  Researching the prerequisite software for the function you will be using, then installing it, can take time especially if you are not current.

Come see us at IDUG

CBI's President, Judy Nall, is presenting at the 2005 IDUG NA conference in Denver, CO. The session is: B13 - Let's Get Physical, Physical with DB2 Version 8.   "High on IBM's priority list in Version 8 were two changes to physical structures, Changing Partitioning, and Unbundling Partitioning and Clustering. How do these changes in the physical structures reflect in the DB2 UDB utilities, commands and the catalog? What do we do to prepare for these changes? Let's take a look at the DDL changes for table space partitioning and what this schema evolution is all about".

Her session is on May 26, at 10:00 in Room 406
